At BLU3 we see your web site as a virtual employee. More than just an online representation of your company, web sites today can supplement your staff by allowing potential clients and current customers to get more information about your company and products, order products online, register for events, or give protected information to privileged individuals. It allows your clients to access your supplies and services 24/7 without the need of additional staff. (from the blu3 website)

Increase your Traffic

Today at blu3, we got a new client. They are a little business based in Ste-Anne-De-Bellevue. They brought in their objectives for their site this morning and everything seems pretty clear. This may be odd coming from me, but I am excited to start this project. It isn’t anything like we’ve done; it’ll be a challenge, but a good one! With this site, I can see them growing at a phenomenal rate! But that’s just what we do here; we make businesses grow.

If your site isn’t designed well and is hard to navigate, then you won’t attract very much customers. If anything else, if your site blinds people with it’s colors, then it will turn your potential customers off and go elsewhere! When a business is just starting out, it’s important to get word of mouth circulating, and a good way is to have a site that looks clean and professional. The “word of mouth” on the web goes very fast, and if you’re lucky enough to have your site talked about then that will increase your site’s traffic.

Of course there is always the necessity of submitting your site to google. Google is one of the most used search engines out there. The best you can aim for is to have your site to come up in the fist page of a search. Most people look only at the first two or three pages. Some don’t even make it to the bottom of the first! So it is very important to get your popularity up and to have your site searchable.

The Right Colours

color wheel image

The color of a site should be limited. Not to only one, that’s crazy. But to 4 or 5 in order to maximize it’s appearance. I see sites all the time using bad color combinations or too many colors and it makes me want to email them asking if they need assistance.

So, how do you know which colors to use? Here’s how: once you figure out what your first color is, chose the one that is opposite to that one on the color wheel. These colors compliment each other and they contrast each other well. Also try using different shades of these colors. For example, if you use a purple for your layout, a good color to use would be yellow. Although, unless you have a dark type of background I wouldn’t recommend yellow for text. Use a dark yellows or even the colors that neighbor yellow: lime green and orange.  This is another way of determining your colors.

Go and try it out for yourself! Remember to use dark and light colors, and don't forget about black and white!
